Ushynsky University determines the need to translate documents into Ukrainian.
To receive an invitation by any foreigner who is coming to study, copies of the following documents must be submitted to the International Relations Department in paper or electronic form:
1) passport document of a foreigner (notarized translation into Ukrainian);
2) a document on the obtained level of education with grades (scores) or academic certificates obtained from academic disciplines (notarized translation into Ukrainian);
3) written consent to the processing of personal data.

Required documents for admission to postgraduate school are:
1) Application addressed to the rector of the Ushynsky University (to be completed in the postgraduate department).
2) Notarized translation of the passport in 3 copies.
3) Translation of the diploma legalized in the country of origin in 3 copies.
4) 2 photos 3*4 cm.
In 2021, the admission of students is carried out:
– for bachelor's and master's degrees – until December 15, 2021;
– for the purpose of postgraduate studies – twice a year: in February and August (only for accredited specialties);
– for training at the preparatory department – all year round.
This training lasts 10 months.
At the preparatory department students learn the following subjects:

1) Ukrainian language (entire period);
2) Russian language (introductory course);
3) Ukrainian and foreign literature;
4) history of Ukraine;
5) the laws of Ukraine.

Bachelor – 3 years 10 months;
Master – 1 year 4 months;
Postgraduate studies typically last 4 years: the first 2 years are devoted to the educational process and the next 2 years are devoted to the work with a scientific dissertation. The first 2 years of study are compulsory at postgraduate school. If a postgraduate student is ready for defense in the 3rd year of study, then there is no need to pay for the 4th year.
Tuition fees at the preparatory department are 1000$. You pay it when you get to our country and sign the agreement with our university.

Tuition fees for foreigners are 2 700 c.u. (conventional units) per year.
The cost of living in a hostel is 560 hryvnias (that is equivalent to approx. 19 dollars) per month.
Upon admission, a postgraduate student has to pass 2 entrance exams: a specialty and Ukrainian (as a foreign language). Before the entrance exam in the specialty, a postgraduate student must pass an interview with the guarantor of the specialty ESP (Educational and Scientific Program).
When writing a work, consider the following:
1). Postgraduate studies aim to provide students with advanced training in research techniques. This also involves the preparation and presentation of a research thesis.
2). The procedure for writing the research paper is regulated by the scientific supervisor and with the approval of the scientific work plan indicating the control dates for the submission of the work sections and articles.
3). During the first 2 years of study a postgraduate student is obliged to pass 3 exams and current credits, the number of which is determined by the ESP (educational and scientific program) and the curriculum, but not more than 8 subjects per semester.
A postgraduate thesis must be at least 200 printed sheets.
It needs to be an original work of research.
The postgraduate student must submit the topic of the proposed research dissertation in his specialty in the form of an abstract in the chosen direction or a list of publications.
Meetings with the supervisor take place according to the schedule, at least 5 times a month, and as needed.
The supervisor of a postgraduate student is usually a teacher of our university, but joint scientific supervision from another educational institution is allowed.
The Ushynsky University cooperates with more than 100 foreign IHE (Institutions of Higher Education). A complete list can be found on the university website.
1). A postgraduate student must publish articles during his postgraduate studies. According to the “Procedures for the Award of the Doctor of Philosophy Degree” for the defence of the dissertation, a postgraduate student must have at least 3 professional articles of level V.
2). It is necessary to pass approbation of the alleged results of your research at the conferences and other events of the international and all-Ukrainian levels.
The defense of the thesis is expected in the 4th year of study, or no later than 2 years after graduation.
This information can be found in the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministries No. 167 on March 06, 2019 “The procedure for conducting experiments for the Award of the Doctor of Philosophy Degree”, which implies protection in a one-time special council created at the Ushynsky University for each candidate.
The University does not provide an interpreter for postgraduate students, since the training takes place in the Ukrainian language, therefore, a postgraduate student must have a basic command of the Ukrainian language.
A “notarized translation” means that the translation either a) carries a declaration by the translator that has been signed by the Notary or b) carries a declaration by the Notary Public concerning the original document and the translation.
To notarize a translation, an official government representative or notary of the public must be present to sign off on the document.
Notarized Translations includes the stamp, sign and a statement of the public notary.
Certified translations mean that the translator has issued a signed statement declaring that the translation that has been done is an accurate and true representation of the original document.

General information

South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky was established as A Pedagogical Institute at Richelieu Lyceum in Odesa on 2 May, 1817. Since that time, its name has been changed several times (Teacher’s Institute, Institute of Public Education, Odesa State Pedagogical Institute named after K. D. Ushynsky, South Ukrainian State Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky, South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky); it has been liquidated and re-established. Before 1941, the University was one of the biggest in Odesa in terms of the amount of students and the leading one in the USSR in terms of quality of teachers training. During the World War II, it was the only pedagogical educational institution that was relocated to Turkmenistan by the Resolution of the Government and continued its work there.
