May 14-15, 2018, during the celebration of the Day of Science by the Department of Translation and Theoretical and Applied Linguistics of the State Institution "South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky", Harbin University of Engineering, the section of theoretical and applied linguistics of South Scientific Center of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the support of the Educational and Cultural Center "Confucius Institute" of Ushynsky University there was held the IV International Scientific Conference "Actual Issues of Philology and Professional Preparation experts in the multicultural space" on the bases of the Odesa House of Scientists and the Educational and Cultural Center" Confucius Institute" of Ushynsky University.

The special attention of specialists was attracted by lingvodidactic issues of teaching foreign languages in secondary and high schools; urgent questions of general and comparative linguistics; modern studies in the fields of translation studies and synology; problems of professional training of future specialists in the conditions of modern multicultural space; historical and philosophical determinants of the formation of the linguistic personality in the multi-level education system, etc.
