On June 9, 2023, a master class was held at the Faculty of History and Philology by Horina Zhanna Dmytrivna, PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Philology and Teaching Methods of Professional Disciplines, "How not to get lost in the maelstrom of information and misinformation?". The event gathered more than a hundred interested listeners, including students of the Faculty of History and Philology, as well as graduates of previous years, teachers. During the master class, issues of signs of fake news content, message verification tools, markers for recognizing media manipulation, methods of checking images, etc. were covered. The issue of fakes of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the phenomenon of new language, means of hate speech, visual metaphors of war, etc., caused a lively discussion.
At the end of the meeting, the linguist, teacher and media expert gave a number of tips on how to counteract stereotypes and hate speech, to form habits of information hygiene and not to become a victim of fake information in the realities of war.
The event is organized within the framework of the project (Information Security: Media Literacy in Wartime) with the support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) project "Media Program in Ukraine", implemented by the international organization Internews.
