On September 30, 2021, competitions within the framework of the XXX student games of the Odesa region began in the city of Odesa. Teams of free economic zones of III-IV levels of accreditation took part in sports events. Chess competitions were the first to take place.

The national team of Ushynsky University in the overall standings took 4th place among 12 teams. Olexii Kukelko, a second-year student at the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Rehabilitation of Ushynsky University, won the men's individual championship and did not lose to any party.

Vyacheslav Pasternatsky, a senior lecturer at the Department of Gymnastics and Martial Arts, was the mentor of the team from Ushynsky University.
