Ukraine took 5th place in the overall team standings of the European Youth Karate Championship, which was held in Tbilisi (Georgia) on February 9-11, 2024. 1,160 young sportsmen and women from 49 countries competed for European Championship awards among cadets, juniors and youth. 38 of them represented Ukraine. Our athletes demonstrated impressive results, winning 10 medals: 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze. Athletes of the Odesa Regional Karate Federation won 4 medals.
The bronze medalist of the championship was the student of Ushynsky University David YANOVSKY (SC "Legion", youth, up to 67 kg, coach - Denys KRYLOVSKY).
In the competition among young people in the "up to 61 kg" category, the student of Ushynsky University Daria YERVACHOVA (coach - Denys KRYLOVSKY) lost to Nevena Filipov from Serbia (3:4) in the match for bronze, missing the decisive shot 4 seconds before the end.
