Every year on February 20, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred - a day that honors the memory of the participants of the Revolution of Dignity, who fought for democratic values and territorial integrity of the country. This day was established in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated February 11, 2015 No. 69/2015 "On commemorating the feat of the participants of the Revolution of Dignity and perpetuating the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred."
It was on February 20, 2014 that a tragic event took place in the heart of the capital of Ukraine, when the largest number of people died - 48 participants of peaceful protests. They and others who died in different periods of the Revolution of Dignity defended the ideals of freedom, human rights and a European future for Ukraine. This day is a symbol of dedication and courage of those who stood up in difficult and dangerous conditions, defending their beliefs and ideals.
We must remember and honor the victims of the Revolution of Dignity, because this day has become not only a symbol of past exploits, but also a call to action for the benefit of future generations who have the right to live in a free, just and democratic country. During the last 10 years, the Ukrainian people have been living in a constant struggle for the right to live in a free country, in order to ensure the prosperity of Ukraine. We are a people who will not stop in the face of obstacles, but will instead choose the path to victory.
