October 6, 2016 the delegation the US Embassy in Ukraine visited South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D.Ushynsky , including: John Silver, Attache of Teaching English and Lily Shylo, Assistant of Cultural Affairs at the Department of Public Affairs and Culture.

During the working meeting with the representatives of the administration and distinguished guests were discussed the following: development of educational and scientific cooperation between universities; joint research and communication activities; involvement of American professors to work in the Specialized Academic Council of the defense of dissertations in philology; further participation of leading American universities teachers in training future teachers of the English language and literature and others.

The representatives of the US diplomatic mission got acquainted with the peculiarities of the holder of scholarship program of the State Department's Joey Fordyce who has been working since September 2016 with students and teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages of Ushynsky University.

The foreign guests took part in the open lesson within the base implementation of the Small university scholarships to study English language («English Access Microscholarship Program» - abbreviated Access), carried out Odessa and in several regions of Ukraine. Access Program is supported by the US Embassy in Ukraine and funded by the US State Department. The project allows students from poor and vulnerable families, including immigrants and young people with special needs, to deepen their knowledge of English free, to learn more about the United States, their culture and values, to develop leadership skills.
