We celebrate the 209th anniversary of the birth of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko

On March 9, 1814, Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko, who was later named Kobzar, was born in the village of Moryntsy, now Cherkasy Oblast. The Ukrainian prophet was born in a difficult time, when we did not have our own independent state and were consolidated by the decree of Catherine II, but despite this, he tried to awaken Ukrainians from their national hibernation and glorify Ukrainian literature. Today is the 209th anniversary of the birth of the free-spirited Man, the PROPHET, whose poems are a call to struggle and a belief in inevitable VICTORY.
