On March 9, 1814, Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko, who was later named Kobzar, was born in the village of Moryntsy, now Cherkasy Oblast. The Ukrainian prophet was born in a difficult time, when we did not have our own independent state and were consolidated by the decree of Catherine II, but despite this, he tried to awaken Ukrainians from their national hibernation and glorify Ukrainian literature.
