May 18 is the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People

Every year on May 18, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People. It was on this day in 1944 that the totalitarian Stalinist regime began the deportation of the Crimean Tatars. The result of this crime was numerous victims among the civilian population.

The basis for this was the alleged "mass treason and collaborationism" during the occupation by fascist troops.
According to the official data of the Soviet authorities, more than 183 thousand Crimean Tatars were deported, according to Tatar sources - more than 228 thousand, of which half did not withstand the burden of deportation.

On this day, the whole world remembers the terrible events of 1944, when, on the instructions of the leaders of the totalitarian regime, the Crimean Tatars were forcibly deported to remote regions of the Soviet Union, along with representatives of other national minorities.
Eternal memory to all our people whose lives were taken by totalitarian regimes.
