We sincerely congratulate you on the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language!!!

Ukrainian Language and Literature Day, now celebrated on October 27, becomes a magnet that draws attention to the treasury of the native language, its origins and modern pulse. In times of war, this holiday takes on an even deeper meaning, because every Ukrainian word spoken today is a symbol of resistance, a manifestation of the inner strength of the people, their dignity and invincibility, a small but sure step towards victory.

On this day, we sincerely thank everyone who cherishes, develops and multiplies the power of the Ukrainian word, who creates a Ukrainian-language cultural space and proves that Ukrainian is stylish, modern and prestigious.

This year, on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, a number of thematic events were organized at the Faculty of History and Philology.

On October 20-27, 2025, the online flashmob "Language Creates a Nation" was held, designed to stimulate interest in the native language through live communication, encourage young people to creatively express themselves in Ukrainian, and also show that language is a powerful factor in unity, inspiration, and the formation of a conscious citizen of Ukraine.

On the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, future teachers of literature held a socio-cultural event “Ukrainian in the Heart of Odesa”, the purpose of which was to spread the Ukrainian-speaking environment in Odesa region and encourage residents of the region to actively communicate in the state language in everyday life. For a month, students took to the streets of the city, where they presented citizens who spoke Ukrainian with symbolic ribbons of gratitude with the inscription “Thank you very much for hearing the Ukrainian language in my city. You are incredible!”. Such small signs of attention became a manifestation of respect and gratitude to those Odesans who love their native language and realize its importance as the basis of the cultural and spiritual identity of our people. The event united students around a common idea - to create a friendly atmosphere of support for the Ukrainian word, to show that language is not only a means of communication, but also an important element of national unity.

On October 27, all those who wanted to join in honoring the power and beauty of the Ukrainian Word took part in the all-Ukrainian unity action - radio dictation - to feel a sense of belonging to a community of like-minded people, to contribute to the popularization of their native language and to test their own literacy.

The essay competition "Letter of Gratitude" aroused great interest among the applicants. For many, it was not just a creative task, but also a kind of spiritual experience - an opportunity to rethink the value of human relationships, kindness and support. The authors of the most original works were awarded diplomas.

The grand opening of the 26th International Ukrainian Language Competition named after Petro Jacyk crowned a series of thematic events organized by the Department of Ukrainian Philology and the MTPD.

Happy Ukrainian Writing and Language Day! Let's take care of, respect and spread our native word - after all, it contains our history, our freedom and the future of Ukraine!!!

The staff of the Department of Ukrainian Philology and Methods of Teaching Professional Disciplines
